Anxious Anxiety: Part II

 In anxiety, grace

Here’s the thing about anxiety – it’s entirely and completely pointless. You cannot, by being anxious, change anything except your own state of being (and believe me, it will not be a change for the better). I say this because I have lived it. Oh, how I have lived it!

I am here to tell you that your emotional and mental state can and will affect your physical state. When I am anxious, I get upset stomach, nausea, and several other symptoms. It’s all related, because the overall well-being of my body will always play upon my weakest area. If my weakest area just so happens to be my emotional life, the rest of my body will somehow fall into sync with that instead of the other way around.

As always, the Bible says it best:

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

– Matthew 6:25-27

Don’t waste your time worrying today. Let God’s grace come as you need it. Don’t worry in advance about the grace you’ll need to get through possible scenarios that you think up in your mind. Believe me when I tell you that if those feared scenarios were to ever come your way, God would also be there.
